Try turning it off and see what doesn't work.
No, wait - if it's a Megane, lots of things will nor work anyway.

Ok, try this:
1. Switch Button to "on"
2. Make a list (A) of stuff that doesn't work.
3. Switch the mystery button to "off"
4. Make a new list (B) of things that don't work. (*)

Whatever is on list (B) , but not list (A) is what the button does..

* there will always be things that don't work on a Megane.

What!! How is that even possible? The button is not necessarly related to make something work or disable something from working .. I mean it could be something like for feul economy?? Right? Its hard to mesure that at the time

I was just being logical. On any other car I would have just said "switch it off and see what stops working", but we are talking about Meganes here..

This looks like the 'icy conditions' mode selector for the automatic gear box. Basically, when selected 'on' it reduces the rate that acceleration is applied to avoid the wheels spinning in icy conditions.

My wife has a Renault Modus and the is a button with the frost symbol on it in a similar location.

That is my best guess...

It dials up your bank and transfers large amounts of money to the Renault UK account.
