Air con not working

Postby Rick1968 » Mon Aug 29, 2016 5:16 am

Has anyone got any links for air con wiring diagrams, or if it's possible to bypass the the fuse box and wire direct to a/c compressor as the light comes on the dash but no power to compressor and to remove fuse box sounds like a big job just to check fuse!! :banghead :banghead Thanks for any help!

Could it be the system is out of gas?

I had something similar with my c-max, and I had to test whether it was a gas or electrical issue. Turned out it was empty.

As I understand from my limited knowledge of AC systems there are two ports, a low side and a high side.

All I did to test the gas was remove the plastic cap on top of the low port and gently push the pin in. If you get a rush of gas then its electrical.

***I take no responsibility for any issues arising, and it's all carried out at your own risk***
***Make sure your hand is well covered, and the cold gas COULD damage your skin.***

Probably out of refrigerant. It evaporates over time, especially if it's not used regularly. Topping up every two or three years is usually a good idea.

There's usually a pressure sensor somewhere in the system that disables the compressor clutch to protect the compressor from running dry (there's also a small amount of lubricant mixed in with the refrigerant).

Ours leaked out from the joint of the alumnium pipe that runs from the bulkhead where it joints onto the drier down under the washer bottle.
It was caused by corrosion as water/salt can sit in the gap and corrode it. New pipe was £88 from renault. Fit and regas was £100 by a specialist. :(

Have a look on "Groupon" - they often have an Air-con re-gas offer for £20 (At least in my area - Teesside)

Had it regassed and still didn't work so put it on diagnosis it came up with pressure switch which I changed still no difference but if I put power to compressor it kicks in so thought it could be a fuse but to remove battery and ecu to check fuse is mad!!

This is the sort of thing I meant when I said "Groupon": https://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/tyre-ex ... =deal-page

Yeah i took out the fuse box earlier today in hopes that one would be dead and was the cause of my blower not working. It took us 2 hours total getting it in and out and it takes a lot of pushing and shoving to get to it. You really need to be paitent if you do.
