renault megane wont start!!!!!!

Postby tomluckett » Tue May 10, 2016 6:24 pm

I have a renault megane 2003 1.6 petrol and went to my car today to find the key card buttons do not work to open the car. so i took out the manual key and opened the passengers side door to get into the car. put the card in the slot and pushed the start button.... nothing happened!!! i assumed that this must be a flat battery so tried to jump start it with my friends car after a few mins lights started to flicker and i tried to start the car and i just got the clicking sound and the car trying to start.... after trying this and the car not starting i stopped and tried again with another car to start it. this time nothing at all happened all i got was a solid immobiliser light on the car and nothing else.... anyone have any ideas im thinking i might just need a new battery or to try and reset the immobiliser somehow because if this is= activated then the car wont start right??

any help appreciated!!!

Tom

Has the car been stood for a while?

Just sounds like a flat battery to me, mine did the same to me after leaving it a month or so without driving it, did what you tried with jump leads from another car and it wasn't quite strong enough to get it started, battery out and charged overnight on a slow charge it was fine in the morning

Also check the main fuse from the battery terminal to the red wires. It usually blows because the jump lead was connected to the wrong side.
