Repeat Clutch Judder

Postby harg88 » Tue Sep 01, 2015 12:46 pm

Afternoon.

I have a 2008 1.4 Megane Tech run 3DR with 50k on the clock. Bought it in 2012 at 26k.

Not long after getting the car it developed the famous clutch judder. just setting off in 1st, especially in traffic.
After a month long battle the garage replaced it and all seamed well. However over the last 6 months it has come back, not as often as before but it seems to be getting more frequent.

I've done some research and looked through old posts. Everything from worn clutch to engine mounts has come up but most of these posts are pre 2012. surely 2 clutches at 50k is a bit unusual. The car isnt driven fast, and im not riding the clutch or spinning the wheels at the lights.

Has anyone any recommendations. I've just bought a house and really cant afford to pay out for another clutch.

Thanks

Chris

Hi

I've just looked at the engine mounts, the gearbox and subframe seem fine.

However the drivers side is easy to move. When shaking the engine it moves on the drivers side more than the passenger's side.
it doesn't looked perished, but it seems like it moves quite a bit. I'll try post a video later on.

Could this cause the judder ? Or is the movement normal?

Does this help at all. sorry for the poor quality, it looked in focus on the phone.

Should it move this much by hand?

I have a feeling that when they garage i bought it from changed the clutch the dropped 1/2 the engine off this mount.

Any help appreciated

Cheers

Chris
