megane scenic

I have a megan scenic 1.6 16 valve with a power steering issue ie there isn't much assist present,fluid is at max and no leaks found.
Chatting t o a mechanic friend of mine who tells me it is very likely a valve in the system that adjusts the assist according to speed malfunctioning,I think Ive found this attached to the power steering pump out put pipe with an electrical connection in the engine bay?
