2006 megane Dyn 16 cc keyless entry (do I Have it)

My Megane Dynamique will only start with the card in the slot but my workmates 2010 sporty clio opens and starts with his in his pocket. is my key programmed correctly or is not a standard feature. I do have both keys and skip read something about valet mode... cant remember where

Its an added extra on some cars , sounds as though your car doesn't have this fitted
