Behind radio?

Not sure where to put this topic post so trying here first...

I have changed my radio for a double din size one. All is good except I would like to sink it further down as it is not flush with the facia. The trouble is I have measured the depth of the new unit and is hitting the plastic behind the unit. What exactly is this and could I take some out with a dremel?

I have to go back about 20mm or so...

From memory, the heater box is behind the radio. Not sure that I would cut into it...

Hmm... in that case I might try moving the whole facia forward a touch... that should do it

I have already shorted the gear stick a couple of inches because the screen folds down and touched it.

Aparently standard din sizes don't include depth...
