Hi I'm new here and looking for a bit of advice. I have jut bought a megane 1.6 vvt 2002 from a private seller. The seats were not working(which I have now fixed) and when I looked underneath there is hanging wires and I don't know what they are for, I also looked under the dash and a wire has been cut. The wires under the seat are like a roundish blue connector then a small white connector. The one underneath the dash I green sorry if this is not enough information. I have took pics but I can't seem to upload them. I would be grateful if anyone can tell me what they are for.
Thank you

The one under the dash could be from the clutch pedal switch (2 pin green connector). They always break and hang down.
Upload your pics to imgur.com and post the link so we can have a look to confirm.

2002? What generation Megane is it? How many doors are there? Quoting the model code from the oval plate might help.
The first photo looks like a clutch pedal switch. The other one I don't recognise. If dealing with electrics, I highly recommend to download the factory manual and the circuit diagrams. They are in the sticky thread with an appropriate subject line.
If the seat is disconnected, this must trigger the warning light. Something is done there to prevent this from happening... Check if the car is safe!

Unless of course the dash light has been disconnected Alex , I've seen that before on a 20v new shape beetle!

Thanks for the replys. It's a 52 second generation 3 door megane. No warning lights are on dash so I was thinking maybe something has been unplugged but I don't have a clue.

Do the lights come on when you turn on the ignition, before you start the engine?

Here you go, disconnected. It's quite possible that the car was in a collision at some point. Apart from the restraint system, you need to check structural integrity of the body shell, crample zones, suspension, brakes and steering. Cars fixed for sale may also have either damaged, mismatched or budget tyres...

Yes, you're right, it wouldn't harm to remind everyone that in modern cars the dashboard lights are tested every time the engine is started. If they do not illuminate, the car will fail the MOT.
