1.4 juddering when pulling away ?

Postby bignath » Sun Jun 08, 2014 9:03 am

My wife recently got herself a megane 1.4 3dr oasis, nice looking car but after fixing a list of problems inc water in door pocket, sunroof not lifting up, new rad and cleaning throttle body after stalling all the time my next task is to find out why when you pull away from a stand still in first gear giving it what I think is plenty of reeves it judders like made, so to stop it juddering on pulling of you have to give it plenty more reeves and this then pules away normal with no juddering(boy racer style) when the car is ticking over she runs lovely. Thinking it could be clutch but gear change is fine and no clutch slipping any other time. Any advice would be great thanks. :hug

Sounds like a clutch to me . Few possibilities

Oil contamination on the plate

Worn plate, what's the mileage?

Engine mount/ gearbox mount

Where is the biting point of the clutch at the moment? Top, middle or bottom ?

At 94k I would say its a clutch, prices vary from the stealers to halfords or an independent specialist, get 3 prices and I would guess 250 to 300 would be somewhere near.

The box will need to come out to replace the clutch

I would try and avoid those tyre places if I was you, just my opinion though

Good luck

Darren
