hi all...I bought a grand scenic with a 1.5 dci engine and the oil level low warning comes on when you start the engine.ive disconnected the wire to it and bridged the connection and it goes off and the service light goes out too..happy days :-)

i tried to clean the sensor to no avail so then went on ebay to see how much they are and theres a few that look the same but are from different cars all at different prices

so my question is..are they all the same ?
...they all look the same
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw= ... r&_sacat=0

i could take the one out of my megane 1.9 dci and see if its the same length and also try it in the 1.5 but i was hoping you guys knew if they were different ?

cheers dave

well...did a cervix on it today , undid the sump plug and let it flow out while I changed the air filter. looked undernesth and no more drips so put the sump plug back in thinking it was drained.struggled with the oil filter but managed to get that out and a new one in...poured in 4.5 litres of oil and started it up .
level sensor said oil level was fine and no cervix light..all good I thought.
pulled the bowl with the old oil out from under the car and there was only about 3 litres in it if that , although the dipstick had previously said it was full.
so I pulled the dipstick out and it was about 1" 1/2 above the max

I cant let the car run if its too full of oil so what did I do wrong ??
has it got the wrong dipstick in it and all this time its been saying there wasn't enough oil ...or is there now about 6 litres of oil in the thing ????
did I go wrong where I put the sump plug back in before removing the oil filter and about 1 litre of oil was still in the engine ?

right... been back out and cleaned my bowl and drained the oil out into it..also unscrewed the oil filter and also took the filling cap off for good measure and left it to drain

put filter back on and plug in
got a 1ltr measuring jug and what went back in was exactly 4.5 ltrs and non was left in the bowl

....still about 1.5 inch above the max !!!!

oil level sensor is happy though :D

could someone with a 1.5 dci measure the length of their dipstick please and the measurement from the tip to the max on it
don't know if it makes a difference but mines a grand scenic 05 plate
cheers..dave

you got the wrong dipstick for sure. there is no way there is 1L oil left in the car....
now that you ran the car with 1.5L of oil less, I would inspect the turbo as it is the first to fell the lack of it.

Well here's what's happening.

At round 2k rpm there's a bit of a dead spot till around 2.3k....not noticeable in 1st
There's a whistle from the turbo when you load it
I've had the egr off and cleaned it ,also the pipe work and it helped a little
When I had the intercooler top pipe off it was steel to steel on the turbo...I thought there should have been an o-ring or something but there wasnt ..but I'm thinking the whistle is from there

As for the dipstick I've been on eBay and there seems to be different length ones for the same engine so the stick tubes must be various lengths for some reason.
