Various Electrical Problems!

Postby DanDCI » Sat Dec 14, 2013 8:17 pm

Only had this car a few months but I'm fast considering chopping it in...

A week ago washers were working fine, I know this because I did a long drive and had to fill the screenwash up before setting off home (it hadnt got to the bottom).

Now, a week later, they arent working. No noise from the motor either, but the wipers still come on as though they are expecting fluid. At the same time, the radio has stopped turning itself off with the ignition. Are these 2 problems linked? Is it going to be a fuse, which one (hopefully in the glovebox?). Is there likely to be something else not working that I havent realised yet?

On a separate note, when the car has been stood in the rain for a bit and I set off, I can hear what sounds like quite a lot of water sloshing around the front of the car (I *think* engine bay but can only do it when moving so difficult to hang my head out and see!). Is that likely to be leaves blocking some draining point somewhere easy to access? My wife gives birth any day now so I dont want to take it anywhere or apart!

Thanks

Argh, typical, as soon as I post this I googled some more and found which fuse to try, the first 15 blue one in the glovebox. I swapped it with the one below it and now the washers are working again :D

I'll leave this thread here in case more intrepid googlers discover it

However, it would still be nice to get opinions on this bit:

the water sloshing is very easy to fix , there are 2 drain holes under the windscreen scuttle panel that become blocked, , i always take the wiper arms of remove the panel and have a poke of the drains with a bit of stiff wire , plenty of threads on here about it and some i think have photos

Drive it like you stole it
