Had a bad day today. Car wouldn't start this morning. Press the start button and all I got was a series of clicks! I put the blame squarely on the battery failing so after work I went to Halfords and got a new one. Managed to swap them over without interrupting the power using two sets of jump leads! the radio still works! Yay!!
Now my question. In the fiddly process of swapping the battery over with two sets of jump leads attached I think I dislodged something which I only noticed after I'd fitted the new battery. What is this circled below and where does it go?? Thanks.
What is this??

Battery breather pipe.
Takes gasses created in the charging process and drops them out under the car.
Some sealed for life batteries don't have them.

Ok cool. Do I need to actually plug it into the battery? It's a Halfords HB075 battery.
