Cleaning intercooler on 1.9dci

Cleaned out my intercooler with lots of petrol followed by a flush of water.

Used a hot air gun to help dry it out - blowing it through for a minute then pausing as it can get very hot. My assumption was the intercooler is all aluminium so this wouldn't do any harm BUT when I looked at buying a new one (CarParts4Less) it says they are made of Aluminium AND plastic...

There was a little bit of white smoke as I heated it, assumed this was the remnants of oil and petrol burning off, not plastic!! Certainly didn't smell very strong. :(

Just put a new rad in mine today and there was no plastic on my intercooler. Might be cheaper ones have plastic ends on to reduce cost
