2007 2.0 Dci Handbrake cable or caliper fault

Postby mow » Mon Apr 29, 2013 4:26 pm

Hi all

Been trawling the posts but couldn't find an answer to this, hope it's not a repeat.

My handbrake cables keep falling of the balance bar inside the car, one cable appears longer than the other, hence they fall off!
On inspection I can feel the rear calipers pull up differently to each other, one moves about 5-10mm then stops, the other 10-20mm.

My question is, which one is faulty? The caliper that appears to seize quickly or the one with more travel?
Both wheels release and lock by the way.

Thanks in advance

10 to 20mm is correct. Try removing the cables from the calipers and wind the piston back in as this should reset the caliper and maybe sort your problem
