My car is due a service and I'm planning on doing it myself. Can someone tell what oil I need? It's an 04 petrol and there is a lot of conflicting reports on the internet. Also I'm planning on changing fuel filter, oil filter and air filter.

Is there anything that I should be changing along with the rest of the stuff.

1.4 is not very demanding. Renault now has a spec for non-turbo petrol engines: RN0700. The oil for turbocharged engines will also work: RN0710.
RN0700 is a subset of Mercedes spec MB229.5/MB229.51. So, look at opieoils for RN0700, RN0710, MB229.5 and MB229.51 oils, there are many examples.

It is important to change the oil after each winter regardless of mileage, or about every 9k miles, unless all your trips are longer than 20 miles of calm country roads. The filter must be either OEM. MANN and Purflux make these OEM filters.

Careful with the spark plugs. One needs to apply special fluorine grease to the coils when installing them.

alex where exactly you apply the grease on the coils?

To the inside of the rubber sleeve, which sits on the spark plug insulator. It is in the technical note in the sticky thread with manuals. Silicone grease, apparently, is not good in the long term.
