Clutch Problem? 1.5dCi

Hi. My car is experiencing some problems with the clutch and so I wanted to run this past the forum for advice. I've noticed a few symptoms so I will try and list them each individually to give a better picture of the situation.

Background:
A couple of nights ago, I was pulling off my drive and heard a couple of 'clicking' type noises each time I pressed the clutch, which I assume came from the clutch pedal area.

Symptom 1
The car has been driving near enough 'normally' since then, however, I have felt that something isn't quite as it should be with the pedal itself. I've never paid much attention to the layout before, but the clutch pedal doesn't feel 'right' - it feels more stiff, the travel feels slightly shorter, and the pedal feels slightly stiff / heavy. If I try to pull the pedal up using my foot underneath it, the pedal will come up with quite a bit resistance but then falls back to it's 'new' resting position.

Symptom 2
Driving along in 2nd gear (in traffic), if I accelerate slightly, the take up isn't as smooth as it use to be. Passengers would probably not notice anything different, but to me I know this isn't normal or as smooth as I recall it to be.

I have, to a point, convinced myself that I'm probably imagining all this and that it was always like this, however, the next symptom clearly shows otherwise.

Symptom 3
Joining a dual carriageway, I changed up to 3rd gear and sped up a bit. At about 2,500 - 3,000rpm, there was some clutch slip. I tried this a few more times, and each time was the same, however, I don't think it would do it (or at least be noticeable) in 1st or 2nd gear. I didn't even attempt to try it in 4th etc. This morning, however, it seemed to be slightly better (possibly due to a cold transmission?). The clutch slip isn't in the traditional sense (i.e. if I put the car in 4th at 25mph and floor it to see if there is any clutch slip, then it won't do it - the speed just rises slowly as per normal). The gearchange etc, is otherwise normal, but maybe has felt ever so slighty notchy for a few days prior to this. It is almost as if the clutch is partially engaged now, but I don't have any clutch burning smells etc.

I've read a TSB on the 1.9dCi which suggests bleeding the clutch, and if that doesn't work, then replacing the clutch master cylinder. I'm assuming the same would be true for the 1.5dCi? Am I on the right tracks or could it be a problem with the clutch itself and how can I diagnose this further?

TIA

Just done my clutch and I would check hehind the pedal that the part with the spring and plastic piston is still in place. The pedal should be flush with the brake pedal.
The clutch on my 1.9dci has a self adjusting pressure plate that runs out of adjustment and causes the clutch to slip like you describe. You should also replace the slave cyclinder as it has the thrust bear built into it

All done back in April - thanks all the same (spring did indeed break on the master cylinder)
