Door open warning

Postby IanLawson » Sun Feb 10, 2013 11:06 am

Hi everyone.

Today, the door open warning light on the dash display refuses to go out. All doors shut properly, boot and bonnet included. I can't lock the doors: double clunk when I press the key fob. :eek

Megane 1.5DCi, 55 plate. Just finished resolving a clutch problem and now this.

Any ideas, anyone? Can I hook up a laptop and diagnose this problem, or do I have to go to garage?

Now on the lookout for a Nissan Juke. (Another funky-ass fun car)

Cheers
Ian

Do the interior lights also remain on? if so then maybe check the door switch.

Check that theres not something stuck in one of the door latches, it takes next to nothing I experienced the same thing and one time it was a bit of webbing from my rucksack in the boot and another time it was a leaf in the passenger door latch.

Many likely causes for this but the most common faults are:
1. a faulty latch micro switch (check by disconnecting/reconnecting 1 door at a time and monitoring the indicator light).
2. broken wiring in the boot loom between the lid and body inside the rubber sleeve.
3. water ingress and corrosion of A or B pillar door connectors.

Anything more than that would need a little more diagnosis - which door is causing the fault, UCH interrogation etc.
