Keycard problems

Postby t3stin » Sat Nov 03, 2012 6:07 pm

So as stated in previous topic the keycard fell out of my pocket and since then the dash said card not detected however it still unlocked / locked the doors.
Having since checking here I followed the guide to open the card but after doing so it no longer will unlock / lock the doors nor start the car.

In Desperate need of help! Why has the lock functions stopped working and am i in a position to be able to rectify this?? Appreciate all help / ideas.

I guess this is because you damaged something while opening it... Check the obvious things under a magnifying glass. Start with the circuits connecting the battery.

The non-starting problem is probably caused by the large black coil on the board. This circuit is separate from the central locking part and does not use the battery. Check the connection of the thin wire to the pins of the coil. In one of my cards it fell off and I had to solder it back.

thanks for the reply, do I need to put it all back together to test it? i.e the central locking?

No, it should work without the plastic shell. For testing purposes just put the board inside the shell and wrap it in sellotape. Once everything is fixed, weld the shell together with a soldering iron.
