Hi,wondered if anyone has had a problem with a vibrating engine on tickover?
Used to be now and again but it's constant now.
Drives great but it's when I'm sitting traffic, all the car vibrates
Just had it serviced and can't think what it is,can't be doing the car any good shaking like that.
Any clues?
It's a 2005 1.9 dci btw

yes, it's the one at the top beside the coolant bottle,It was easy to do on my 1.5dci, shouldn't be too much different, i used the haynes manual for instructions .

Nice one! Did you buy the bracket that goes with it or just the rubber mount? Is it genuine or can you get it from anywhere ? Where did you get yours from?

I got mine online from widaonline.co.uk i think the 1.9dci is coded with the colour green, you don't need to buy the bracket as it can be used again(i assume you mean the piece of metal with the 4 bolts in it?) . Good luck .

That's a good site. Engine mount (with the bracket) is £64 delivered. Have ordered it. Another Question.. Looking in the boot, lifting the carpet up,at the back of the boot behind the seats, there's a little plastic box thing with and orange front and wires running off it,what hell is that ???

Haven't a clue what that would be, never noticed it on my own car, would it be anything to do with the fuel tank??

Others have said it's the sensor for keyless entry. Bizzare :-)

Could be that ok, i don't have the keyless entry so it would explain why it's not in my car .

I have got the little box and mine IS keyless entry. Wondered what it was when I found it last year.

Edited later: I just fixed vibration in my 1.9dci 120bhp by replacing the top engine mounting... Do not use second-hand mounts -- Febi Bilstein is a very good option.

It may happen that your car needs a bit of Italian tuning, unless the EGR valve was not cleaned for longer than 2 years... Engine mounts mainly fail on petrol models, but check it as well.

In general, the 1.9 diesel, detuned from 150 to 120bhp, is too powerful for many drivers. As a result, they keep the revs under 2000rpm, which causes soot deposits everywhere. Put 20 litres of Shell diesel in the tank, add Comma Diesel Detox and drive fast with frequent hard braking and full throttle acceleration, taking the revs to 4500rpm. I do it frequently to complement my wife's slow driving for short distances on cold engine.

I did put a full bottle of Redex diesel treatment in and it does run smoother but still vibrating on tickover so this does point me to the top engine mount.
Only had the car for 3 weeks so regarding the EGR valve,I'm not sure when it's been cleaned,
As it runs so smooth and picks up speed so quick I imagine the valve's ok

Widaonline do another make of the top engine mount at £46 delivered but it's not the Fibi Bilstein make that Renault use. Don't know how good they are but that's a really good price, especially if you're not 100% sure that is the problem.
