filling up megane 1.9 dci

Postby mumsbum » Tue Sep 11, 2012 1:45 pm

Hi
My first post so please be gentle!Ive got a megane 1.9dci 53plate,ive just put £64 worth of diesel in it which normally takes me to just under a full tank, while i was filling it i noticed it was making a gurgling sound and a sort of smoke came out of the tank when i took the nozzle out??not like plumes of smoke but wispy bits and my fuel gauge is showing just under half a tank.any ideas on what this could be?
Thanks in advance

No idea, but, I guess, the next time there will be fire...

Could be a fault with the pump, not the car.

Try a different filling station next time, see if same happens.

Thank you both for your replies,it was a fault with the pump, went back to the petrol station and the manager admitted there was air in the pipes gave me a extra £25 of diesel, happy days :D

What a relief, no fire after all! I never thought a pump would measure the volume of air after running out of fuel. It was a pretty expensive air!

Best advice for Megane owners: sell it before it bankrupts you!
