Hi
I have a 2003 1.4 Megane II Extreme and it has a problem. When I press the start button, the engine starts, but then stalls as the revs have dropped too much. I have to keep the revs up until I have driven for a minute then everything seems ok (sort of). The car idles, but the revs are still a little too low and this creates a slightly noticable rock in the cabin.
If anyone can point be in the right direction I would be greatful.
Regards
Andy

Re: Stalling Megane
Sounds similar to an airflow metre problem, as i have had on a few cars in the past but neither were meganes so ill let someone more experienced in the renault field chime in below me hopefully! lol
Re: Stalling Megane
The usual culprit here is the throttle body requiring cleaning. But I've never owned a petrol Megane, so await corrections!

Re: Stalling Megane
I have read about the throttle body. Is it an easy job or am I best letting the garage do it for me? The fact I am asking should suggest my level of mechanical skills

I have also just checked the coils to make sure it wasnt one of them. They all work fine.

Re: Stalling Megane
Coils replaced and no change.
Can someone please advise me on how easy it is to clean the throttle body? I have a 1.4 16v 2003 Megane II. I believe the 1.4 engine is known for getting crud in the throttle body and thus the problem I am experiencing of the car starting and then stalling but once I increase the revs for a minute then release the pedal, it idles, all be it a little rough.
I have enclosed a picture of the engine. Do I need to remove the plastic cover with the torx screws? Once the plastic cover is up, will this give me access to the throttlebody to clean it or do I need to remove more bits? Do I need to be careful of anything?
Thanks for any help
