Anyone with access to CLIP? Disable TPMS

Postby Fielding67 » Mon Aug 13, 2012 2:30 pm

I'm shortly planning to sell my RS225.
I'm trying to disable the Tyre Pressure Sensors as the batteries on the 2 rears have finally given up the ghost.

Wests in Bedford want £78 +VAT just to plug CLIP in and do 10 minutes work!
Does anyone know of a good independant garage or a private owner with access to CLIP so that I can disable the TPMS?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Mark

I guess it would help if I stated my location!

I'm South Beds/North Herts.

So Bedford, Luton, Hitchin, Stevenage. But also work in WGC, so could equally make it to Hertford, Cheshunt, StAlbans.

Surely a decent tyre place ought to be able to remove the tyres and allow you to fit new batteries? Must surely be a 10 minute job? Am I missing something (I usually am!)

EDIT: Why disable a safety feature? Not sensible in my opinion... Fix the cause, not the symptom?

Best advice for Megane owners: sell it before it bankrupts you!

The batteries are moulded in. From what I've read on the blogs once batteries run out its new sensors at £70 a pop. I'm selling the car and disabling rather than spending the fat end of £250 is what I'm looking for. Never had tpms on any previous car. Been nothing but a pain since I've had the car. Probably the only thing is say is annoying and disappointing with my time with my RS. :(

You are correct and once the batteries die the sensors are no good and simply get replaced as a complete assembly that will then need re-coding. I also tend to find that once you start messing with older TPM Sensors that they break whne you attempt to remove them from the inside of the rim.

The way Renault have the X84 setup is a bit backwards though so you do, unfortunatly, require CLIP or Autologic to fully disable the TPMS unlike the setup on the Laguna II which is 60seconds work. Firstly the UCH needs the 'option' setting to "without" which is the easy bit but then you need to completely reset the options of the vehicle in the main config which takes a further 10mins to do otherwise you still get a "beep" and flashing tyres on the display... These steps stop it looking for an aerial and also stop it looking for the sensor pulses that periodically say "I'm here and at 30psi".

I do offer this service for people (mainly taxi drivers take us up on it though) at £25 a pop but i am in Nottingham.

Cheers Mick.
Shame so far away. You would have had another customer! :(

Upon re-reading your post a few days later, I missed that you say it can be done via Autologic too?

 That might give me more of a fighting chance to get done independently if that's the case.

Thanks again Mark

Sorted! Called Renault dealer in Hertford. Superb friendly and helpful service.
They disabled system whilst I waited. Despite popping in without booking. Called in to arrange a booking and they did it there and then! Highly recommended.
No more warnings on the dash. :-)

CLIP is possible to disable tpms, but it is a little pricey. You can get a bluetooth scan tool. Here is good tutorial

After to scan all ecu of your car, go to UCH,then go the right button

clic on it

Then clic on this button

Go to last menu (type of UCH)
