I haven't had a chance to get this checked out yet, but it does seem to have gone slightly worse.
I've just spoken to Renault and asked if my car was subject to any recalls / technical notes - they said no. I asked about the general technical note regarding the steering rack, again I was interupted and told 'no sir'.
I'm wondering if the guy was simply not clued up or blatantly lying? I think a call to head office might be in order.

Not dumb at all mate - I appreciate all suggestions.
I'm not sure to be honest - if it doesnt take long and isn't labour intensive, I might ask a garage to check / do that first

It's a 30 minute job per side (max) for a decent garage to remove each strut. There are only 5 bolts each side from memory (two on the bottom, and three at the top).

Re: Knock From The Front - New Wishbones!
this banging is getting worse on my side so i think my top mounts are goosed, done think grease will work, or is it worth a try, as the part is going to cost £75 out side via a auto shop or £35 on ebay, (but who do u trust) lol
Re: Knock From The Front - New Wishbones!
You will have to buy spring compressors if you don't have them already. £15 for a cheap set. I would recommend re-thinking your costings.Good luck!

Re: Knock From The Front - New Wishbones!
I've not had a chance to get mine checked yet, but a really stupid thought just occured to me on my way home now... I turned a corner pretty sharpish and hear the knock... but for some reason, I thought maybe it's not a suspension knock, but rather the front lip / spoiler on the bumper that's grounding out????
But then again it has happened when the car is relatively flat as well so I'm still getting it checked. I had a word with my mechanic and he said to pop round during lunch so that I can take him for a drive and reproduce the sound as he could have the car whole day and it probably won't make any noises.
