When I brought my 2002 Megane a few months ago I noticed that none of the door lights worked either. I removed one and found that the connector was not joined and it looked brand new and never been connected as there was no sign of wear on either the metal points or the bulbs! I then checked the other 3 and they were all the same so I connected them and they now work for the first time. My car must of come off the production line on a Friday afternoon!

The courtesy lights in the bottom of my doors only light when,

1. I open the door to get in, then they dim and go out after 30 seconds or when I start the engine.

2. I turn the engine off, then they dim and go out after 30 seconds or when I open the door.

They don't come on when I open the underfloor storage (on some versions/specs they do) and there is no actual switch to turn them on.

Do yours ever come on, or not appear to work at all?
Which spec of Megane do you have? Extreme, Authentique, Expression, Dynamique, Privilege, Oasis, Maxim?
Do any other electrical items/accessories not work either, if so they may share a blown fuse?

Hope that helps some.

:)

You checked the fuses I hope...

On the dynamique, the floor cupboards do have switches. It is not uncommon for the switches to either not work, or the flaps to not close. The UCH works this out after a while and does not activate the door lights.

Check the fuses, the bulbs, the switches, then disconnect the -VE battery terminal for 20 minutes. Report back!

ive checked some fuses but unsure which one is for the floor lights. the flaps dont seem to have any switches on them. ive disconnected the negative of the battery but that hasnt semed to do anything.

Open the flap and tug the floor pocket out (just plastic lugs). There should be a connector where it closes. If there isn't, this is not the area to look at.

Follow the link and fuses are detailed in Section 81C.

I would just like to point out that this thread will not be allowed to descend into an argument!

The OP has not written back either - but I get both points.

Lets wait and see - chill out guys! 8)
