Hi
I have Megane 2 on 07 plate, 5 door hatchback 1.6 VVT

Put my shopping in the boot today & closed it as normal. Boot open sign displayed on dash panel. Got out again to open boot & reclose it but it won't open. Boot interior light is on. Can't lock the doors now at all. Get an odd sounding double clunk when I try to operate central locking but doesn't lock all 4 doors :( . If I drive it I get warning beeps and boot open sign is permanently on in the dashboard panel. To make it worse I'm away on holiday & daren't lave my car anywhere unlocked. Also guessing my insurance won't cover me if something happens to it whilst not locked.

Have tried getting in the boot but seems to be completely enclosed by panels so can't get at the lock. Have tried searching topic pages but can't find anything. Right now really pleased I brought my laptop on holiday.

Anyone any ideas please? Desperate for a solution.

It sounds like you may have trapped something in the lock when shutting the boot. This is preventing the lock from latching properly and giving you 'the beeps'. When this happened to me I managed to open it by pressing the unlock button on the boot while at the same time pressing the boot lid down. It took a few minutes of simultaneous bouncing on the boot and pressing of the open button but it did release in the end.

Good luck.

:)

Emergency opening of the boot. Drop the back seats. Crawl in the boot. Slide the white square on the latch across while pushing on the boot lid.

There is also an emergency lock procedure for all doors. I'll post it if you have no luck with the boot lid. Let me know :)

I've had random openings before and double clicking. I lubricated the lock mechanism. If it senses it cannot latch for any reason (such as a door half open or an obstruction) it will immediately unlock. This is the sound you describe.
