Hi all,

Changed a puncture last week and put on spare. Decided to take car for a spin to make sure ok. Only problem is, I left the alloy locking key on the tyre and I have now lost it!!!

I currently still have the full spare on and the orig tyre has now been fixed (slow puncture). I have looked on eBay but unsure were the best place to get a new one from.

56 plate 1.5dci dynamanique.

Cheers

Secret bolts are pointless. Just use regular bolts after removing the secret ones. They are usually removed by hammering a socket on them, which takes 5 minutes. Any garage can do it.

It might be possible to order a replacement socket, if you know the manufacturer and the code of the secret configuration.

usually that kind of secret sockets have two keys, one to be used when necessary, and another one to be spare. even more, if you have the box of tat secret sockets you will see a no. written, with that no. you can order a spare socket. after all brute force will solve the problem also..

good luck

i bought a lock nut removal socket from Halfrauds for about £17. Once you have removed the nut it is then useless and you would have to replace the full set of locking nuts!

A professional universal secret bolt removal kit costs less, only £10... Search ebay! The fact that something is cheap at Halfords doesn't mean that it should be attached to one's car.

Why do you call the secret bolts a lock nut? A lock nut is a completely different kind of fastener, which is not a bolt first of all, and then it is designed to not loosen under vibration.

More help needed.

Spoke to 2 dealerships and one said the part has to come from Gaurd direct.

The other said I can order it and it can take 3 weeks!!!

Another garage said £30 and he will take the locking nuts off all tyres and just put normal bolts on.

Does anyone have a spare I can buy. Willing to pay good money?

What's everyone's best advice.

Thanks chaps.

I have one, but I guess the 'key' may not be the same shape, I can add a photo?

I tried this on my mate's Avenis a couple of years ago - but I didn't realise that the collor on those bolts spun around so it was useless. He ended up having it done by a tyre place.
