service and airbag light
First of all been looking through all the other posts about the service light coming on and dont see anything that applies to my problem, So I got two bottom ball joints two trackrod ends and two drop links after putting these parts on and startting the car up noticed that the said lights had come on any one know why the service and airbag lights came on. The car is a 2005 1.5DCI 80.

Re: service and airbag light
check the connections under the front seats or if you undid the steering rack knuckle could be that you damaged the slip ring. ( the ring behind the steering wheel where the indicator stalk and wiper stalk sit on )

Thanks Lee steering knuckle sounds it could be that we had the sub frame out , will have a look at that and will post the results thanks again.
Re: service and airbag light
Most commonly, this fault is caused by the wiring above or around the pedal. The other culprit is the clocksrping around the steering wheel.

Re: service and airbag light
ABS rings do not cause the airbag light. The standard and very frequent causes are the connector under the driver's seat and the ribbon cable inside the steering wheel. Is there any noise from the steering wheel when turning it?

No, the ribbon cable makes a rubbing noise -- it is rolled inside as a spiral.
A single loud click on full lock one side, then the same the other side, etc. can be a minor fault fixed free of charge on all Megane II cars some time ago. They re-tighten the bolt and apply some resin to it (special thread-lock, different from the usual Loctite). It can be seen on the steering shaft near the driver's feet. It is not dangerous, just annoying.

Re: service and airbag light
Up date, Had to replace the steering squib £177 then another £30 to get it fitted by a friend who is a mechanic and get the air bag and service light and also reset a sensor by the steering rack. hope this helps those who may have the same problem.
