Hi need a bit of help if possible. I have a megane 1.5 dci 2003 and have been having the following problem.
Recently i had the diesel filter blocked which cause the car to stop with injection fault but this has been repaired.
My problem is the megane has developed a lack of power it starts fine and has no missing but from time to time just has a lack of power when this happens it also produces white smoke out of the exhaust.it is not burning oil. Does anyone know what the problem may be is it the erg Valve as i have heard that this may need cleaning every 60K and my car has done 128K without cleaning the valve.it only happens mainly once the car has started up. once it is warm it is ok.

Re: megane 1.5 dci lack of power and white smoke
what age is your car?
white smoke is unburnt fuel / vapour
if your car is fitted with a dpf particulate filter, its more than likely that mate, it needs employes fluid to clkean it, but if your on the same one at 128 you've done bloody well, the fluid tank holds like 5 litres, and it costs a bomb per litre like 20 quid, it dripps into the filter to clean it as its used, 5ltr is only good for 60 ish thousand i think.
so may be that the filter is blocked/partial block, the lambda is sensing the wrong reatio and cars overfuelling ,
you can do a diy take it off and clean it with mr muscle, but there gauzes at either end so difficult to wash it through, or take it to a grage for deep clean or buy new one, and top up fluid but it all add's up i'm afraid.
or its your injectors, ones dripping at the tip and overfuelling and its not being burnt off, and not allowing the cyclinder cycle to add the combustion power.
all just guesses from past experieince mate, i think egr being blocked is black smoke.

Could be injector fault giving white smoke.also the dpf clean is done by heating the element in the filter.what above sounds like he describing whats known as ad-blue.

dpf is not done simpley but heating it up, there the employes fluid driping in and the regeneration cycle, everytime you take the fuel cap off the system drips, if you drive at about 3k for 10 mins it forces a clean

Renaults FAPs don't use that fluid what Peugeot Citroen use, the system is different.
As your 1.5dCi is 2003, if you're in the UK then your car won't have a FAP (french for DPF).

What is ad blue?
Renault FAP don't use any fluids at all, unless the newest 1.6dCi engine does, I'm not sure.

well ad blue came from the hgv industry.(im a bus mechanic)now used on buses.renault use it,also mercedes vw (bluemotion i think)urm its basically cow urine which is injected into the exhaust system.for more indepth explaination have a look at this link https://alternativefuels.about.com/od/re ... adblue.htm
