Re: using loads of fuel

I had a problem like this when i first bought my 1.6vvt = average mpg was in low 20's - I gave it a full service (oil, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs) cost about 40 quid from unipart and took half a day (including a trip to halfords to obtain the sump plug tool) after this i ran a can of BG44K engine cleaner (25 quid a can available at kwik-fit - highly recommended) through it then did another oil change. reset the ECU (disconnect battery over night) and then reset my trip computer, after this i was getting closer to 35mpg around town.......
this was 18 months ago (12000 miles covered so far)

Recently im noticing my MPG is gradually getting less and less when i reset the trip. its now averaging 28.9 around town.........

Im thinking another service is due!!!!!

This worked for me. not saying it will for you, but this was my solution
