Engine Vibration and brakes gone funny all at once!

Postby bobada » Thu Jan 12, 2012 1:47 pm

Hey all,

My 1.9 DCi Meg seems to have decided to throw a load of problems at me all at once!

First off, there is now a lot of engine vibration when idling This is constant and whenever the car is idling. Putting my foot on the clutch does not effect the lumpiness or vibration. The revs are not changing either so the idle speed seems fine, just vibrating like crazy. Maybe a mount or something?

Next, the breaks seem to have gone a little strange. The still work as they should do, however before they were very sensitive and required very little travel on the pedal before they kicked in. Now it takes a bit more pressure or travel before they kick in. This is quite unnerving at times when manoeuvring as the car almost feels like its running away when you put your foot on the clutch and touch the brakes. Ive nearly taking out the neighbours fence a few times already :s

And the bloody water in the door compartments is driving me crazy! but for now this can wait :D

Im starting to hate my car....

Any ideas about the vibration and brakes? any help would be great :)

Regarding the brakes, have they ever been serviced, if not this is probably a good start, the engine mount would seem a goo starting point to check, if you look at the engine as its running if there is excessive movement than a worn mount is more than likely the cause..

As for water in the doors have you checked the drain hole in the underside of the door, if this is blocked then that's your problem..
