As the weather has started to turn cold, I've been having difficulties...
First thing in the morning, I will start the car and you get a noise like some sort of gear stuck and then it stalls. You start the car again and it's fine....Yes it's the 1.6 VVT and I know it's the symptoms of the dephaser...BUT....I've been spraying the engine with silicone spray (around the coils and alternator/starter) and the plug on the exhaust and this cures it for a while and then it comes back.
This morning, I started the car, expecting to here the noise, but it was fine first time, the only thing I noticed different was the revs where higher than normal which I would expect to be the choke....
I have someone coming around tomorrow morning to take a look at it, who suspects it may be the starter..and sods law, it seems okay so far today.
Has anyone else had this issue or can I drive it off a cliff now???
