The Mégane II Owners' Club

Hi,

My car is running fine ( at the mo ) but every now & again in the top left corner of the LED display ( next to the mileage ) a strange symbol appears.

It has two levels, the upper level is 5 squares & the lower level is 4 squares ( it's the bottom LEFT one that's missing not the right as in the diagram below, if it was there, the symbol would form a perfect rectangle )

The is no wavey line either, which seems to be the case with other people I've Googled....confused.

Sounds like the oil level display??...

i tough about that, but that's not now and then, its every time the car is started...strange...

Thanks for your input folks. Since I first posted more has been happening.....

Random letters & numbers have been appearing, flashing & hiding the mileage ( when you press the button on the right stalk to check petrol etc. it changes but these random things overpower it ). Also last night it all just disappeared? there was still power going to it because the dim background glow was still there but no info.

This morning when I started the car everything was back to normal as if nothing had ever happened. ( prob untill tonight )

I've come to the conclusion it's been clocked as it's a 2003 model with only 50,000 miles & this must have interfered with it somehow. What do you rekon?

On another note...now the buttons on the front of the radio dont work ( as if it's childlocked? ) but the controls on the steering wheel work, any suggestions?

Apart from these problems, I think it's a great car. It was recently bought because we have just had a baby & needed a car where the pram could easily be bunged in & out of the boot. How life changes, I used to buy cars based on how long it took them to go 0 to 60!! lol

well, from what you describe you have a dash problem. try getting an 2nd hand unit on a scrap yard and check if it still does the same thing. its the 1st time i know a dash gives that kind of problems. on other brands, BMW, Mercedes and other quality knowen brands that kind of problem happens a little too often.
