Boot unlocks itself!

Postby sullytariq » Fri Jun 10, 2011 1:38 pm

1.9 Dci 5 door on 03 Plate

Currently rotary switch needs replacing. Rear Drivers side window goes down by that switch but wont go up, only goes up with drivers controls. Rear passenger side window works correctly but when closing the window from either that or driver control panel, the boot unlocks itself ( very annoying when on motorways and kids are messing around with the windows).

When its been raining if you turn the rear window heated lines on, and put into reverse (turns rear wiper on), or manually put rear wiper on, boot unlocks.

When its been raining proper hard, with rear heated lines on, when pushing break pedal down boot unlocks itself!

Anyone had this problem before? Have had a look at the boot switch and looks fine (no damp or corrosion). Anyone know how to fix the rear drivers side switch?

Thank you all in advance.

mine does the same,

first the passenger front window stopped working along with the high stop light.

then rear wiper played up and unlocked the boot on start up of the engine.

but window then started to work again.

took fuse out for the rear wiper and stopped the tailgate unlocking.

although the wiper moves everytime i press the tailgate button.

very strange car....... its doing my nut in.

it must be electrics...some systems only cross each others on the ECU. sometimes the ECU gest covered with water (very bad) because the water drain holes are blocked, this way it can reproduce that kind of weird problems. other possibility is to take the schematics on one hand and on the other a multimeter to start searching for shafted wires...requires some hours, luckily.

good luck
