EGR Valve?

Hello again all,

I've just bought a '55 Renault Megane 1.9 dCi 130 and its got a regular service history etc. I've been reading a few posts on the forums and heard about cleaning the EGR valve to improve performance.

This is the first diesel turbo car i've ever owned (previous cars were a fiat punto 1.2 and a honda civic 1.4) so the Megane is a bit of a step up for me! How would i know if this valve has been cleaned and is working well and are there any signs to indicate whether it could do with a clean etc?
