Dipped lights not bright enough
I am not satisfied with brightness of my dipped lights on my 2007 megane 1.5 dynamique diesel estate.
When I first purchased it, second hand a passenger asked me if I actually had my lights on whilst driving on a dark road.
I have since tried 2 or 3 'extra bright' bulbs and they have improved things, but they still are not bright enough.
Several passengers have also remarked about my lights not being bright enough, especially on a rainy night, so it's not just me.
Full beam is fantastic!
The lights when looking at them from outside the car don't look particularly dim, but the drivers side one does look different in as much the light is as bright as the passenger side, but looks like it may not be focusing in the right direction.
Parked in front of a wall, they look to be the same height.
The car passed an mot last August and nothing was said about the lights.
I don't have automatic lights as far as I can tell.
As far as I can tell, the bulbs are sitting correctly.
This is bothering me so much, I am seriously considering getting rid of it just because of this. I also have a Zafira and find the lights on that to be bright enough.

Get some a hid kit from eBay.. About £50 make a huge difference, not far off as bright as driving with full beam..
Kits are very easy to fit.

How easy exactly are they to fit?
Access to my headlight bulbs are very limited, would I have to take off the bumper to access the headlight housing?
Are they legal in the UK?

They are illegal if you don't have auto levelling headlights, diffusing bulb covers and washers but I have them and I don't have washers and it's passed mot no problem..
Yeah bumper off and light units out when I fit mine, about an hour and half job, easy as pie!

Hmmm, can you point me to the ones you purchased on ebay?
I really need to do something about my lights.

There the ones, gave a discount to me as I'm local n collected from him.
With this kit you remove your old bulb, take the plug from that n that powers the new part, ballast and bulb.. Very simple, I attached the two ballasts to the metal bumper reinforcement(youll see when you removebthe bumper)
I didn't use the fitting thing for the ballasts I taped them on and also used tie wrapps..
Highly recommend the kit made a huge difference!

Re: Dipped lights not bright enough
Thanks for that.
I think I will get them but have one more question......
What are the plastic / glass tubes for that the bulbs sit in as seen in the boxed kit in the link you gave me?

Packaging, that comes off and the bulb fits in as normal, be very careful jot to touch it with your fingers..
Just to add don't know if it would bother you, but these lights are much whiter and so the sidelight bulbs which are yellow look odd next to them soni also bought some xenon look side light bulbs (501 bulbs) just looked better in my opinion
Let me know how you get on any questions with fitting or anything don't hesitate to ask... If you do have problems when your fitting them let me know and you can even give me a call!
Cheers, Joe

Re: Dipped lights not bright enough
Lovely day here too, but I am going to work soon.
I am hoping to fit them either next Friday or a week Monday when I will have lots of time should I cock up putting the car back together.
Where can I buy the bulbs when needed?
I always like to carry spares.

Re: Dipped lights not bright enough
Same guy off eBay, give him a phone, if you pay direct he'll give a discount.. They won't go tho.... Not for ages... They do they have a warranty so free replacement but if your wanting a spare I'd get them from him like I said...
Bummer about work!

Re: Dipped lights not bright enough
Did you have to cut a hole in the round covers for the lights for the cables to pass through?
