I have currently got a Scenic II 1.5dci which has an injection fault, and I am still getting it worked on.
I got it diagnosed as fault code DF053-rail pressure control function, this apparently could be either the fuel pressure regulator/sensor (about 85 quid plus half hour or so to fit), a rail pressure sensor, only available with a whole new rail(250ish for the part plus about an hour and a half), or the fuel pump may have gone, (which is more money and could have ruined the injectors!). I have already changed the fuel filter and the fuel is contaminated, waiting to find out if the fuel pump is on its way out or not (if metal particles in fuel). So far, best guess seems to point to faulty injectors, reconditioned ones coming in at about 150 quid each part plus fitting.
My symptoms stared a month or so ago, and it only showedthe fault when theengine wasinder heavy load (up a steep hill or overtaking in 5th), but now it has trouble starting and happens on normal roads when accelerating a lot.
My car is living on the drive until it goes in for a more in-depth analysis by friendly independant diesel specialist on Wednesday.
My best advice would be for you to call all the local independant garages, maybe an independant diesel or Renault specialist, and find one who will diagnose the fault to start with for a reasonable cost (usually 60 to 100 quid), so that you can get an idea of what you are dealing with..
Once mine is fixed, I wil lbe looking to get something NOT FRENCH !!!
