They all have electric power steering so there is no fluid to be changed. You will have to be more descriptive of the weird noise you are hearing.

Re: where do you fill power steering fluid
No the fact that your car is lowered doesn't make a difference to the top mounts. You will need spring compressors and an 18mm deep reach spanner along with an array of other spanners and sockets of course to complete the job.

I must do more write ups - especially since I have sold my car(!)
As mentioned, you do need spring compressors. As far as I remember, you only need 6 and 8mm Allen keys, tools to get the wheel off, to remove some trim (and the windscreen wipers), 10/16/18mm sockets and spanners and some penetrating spray. A 600mm long pry bar is useful for the hub/wishbone bolt. A torque wrench is necessary. The job can be done in around 1 hour with home tools. A trolley jack is highly recommended.

No need to take the wipers and scuttle trim off. You can prise up the corners of the trim just enough to get a spanner in.

Re: where do you fill power steering fluid
if your uncle car is lowered the car the top mounts are under more stress than the car was with it's original height, thats for sure, and in that scenario the top mounts will have their life shorten.

I can't see how a lower ride height can negatively affect the top mount bearings. Yes lowering puts more stress on other certain components, but I can't see how the bearings would be affected.

Re: where do you fill power steering fluid
well, if more stress is applied on the suspension top mount the bearing will reduce its service life. i don't know whats the brand of the bearing on the mounts but its common to find graphics in the technical details of the bearings, among other info, where you can see the service life of the bearings for several ranges of stress. according to this, the bearing on the top mount is no different from the others and will have its life shorten.

Re: where do you fill power steering fluid
But how is more stress put on the top mount from lowering? The bearing is designed to take stress in one direction am I right? Fitting shorter springs doesn't alter anything the bearing would worry about does it? It doesn't add any lateral stresses onto it or anything along those lines?
I'm confused.
I'm confused.

Re: where do you fill power steering fluid
my mistake...if the coils has been changed for a shorter ones instead of just compressed that produces the same stress on the top mounts, so there is problem sorry...lol
