air bag light and no horn

hi all looking for soom help i have searched the sight but aint had no luck my air bag and light and service light are on?? i have tryed the connection under the seat but it wont go off also my horn aint working eithe rbeen like this since i bought it any help will be very appreciated

Cant help with the airbag, but Ive replaced 3 horns on my megane. You need to pop off the front grills (carefully, the clips can be tricky) and check the fuse first, as it may just be a case that the fuse has gone. If its not the fuse, you may need a new horn - the renault ones fill up with crap - corrosion I think. These can be picked up cheaply from any car place. Its then just a case of bolting it back on & hooking it up (check the wires too, sometimes they need to be trimmed down a bit to get a better, 'newer' connection. You need to get the horn looked at asap, as its a MOT failure (and possibly a booking offence) not to have a working horn. Ive got a set of two tone air horns on mine, I was fed up with the kiddy bike squeak that mine emitted!!

do you get a plastic on plastic scraping/clicking noise from the steering wheel area when turning the steering wheel? What if you've got your indicators on, any noises? If so, or rather, sounds like the rotary switch/airbag clock spring.

thanks for the replies and no there is no noise when turning and will check the horn tomorrow just the airbag and service lights come on when car is started???

Right still no luck the air bag light goes on and off??? And I have removed the horn and wired straight up to battery and it works why I did this I put my voltage meter on connecter tht links to the horn it's self and pressed the horn and no power showed any ideas?

search rotary switch, clock spring. If the horn isn't working when you press the steering wheel and the airbag light is coming on and off, then it most definitely sounds like the rotary switch behind the steering wheel.

sorry I'm not sure, when mine broke (it's quite a common problem!) my car was under warranty so it was done by the dealer.

There are other pdf's available which would/should detail changing the rotary switch, but the other link doesn't contain it. I'm not sure if the other pdf's are on this forum, hopefully others will be able to assist.
