The Mégane II Owners' Club

Hi all,
wonder if any of you have had or know how to fix this problem.

The handbrake only comes on when pulling it up without pushing the button in. therefore, making that horrible noise. if push the button in it doesnt come on at all.
any ideas???

probably spring gone out of place in the handle..
there are some posts on here, 'yout throttle style handbrake exposed' i think.
