I agree certain jobs on Renaults are rather difficult to do. But we get our payback in other areas. Would you really rather have a Focus or Astra?

hi sideswipe no i,m not joking i didn,t have the time to take it to the dealer and i was going to do the job myself but it didn,t look as straight forward as lets say a nissan so i took it to my local garage less than 1/4 mile away compared to my renault dealer 7miles away.
my partner had taken her car there and they fitted her bulb for free and just charged her for the bulb.but in my case it took so flipping long they charged me i also enquired how much they charged for a full service the quote was £350 and that my friend is what you get when you become a megane DYNAMIQUE :banghead OWNER

Hello LGC

Count me in. Current car is 2004 Megane Dynamique hatch 1.5dCi 100. Just on 25K. No problems at all with the engine BUT I do drive it quite hard from time to time and change the oil every 9K with top quality fully synthetic. I am not a fan of Renault's 18K service interval.

I really like the car although just recently I have had a few electrical problems with it. Silly annoying things. But at least the dealer has been good at sorting things out.

Regards
WW

I have a 03 Megane 2 Privilege 1.9 dci with 45,000 miles on the clock. Car was brought in August last year from Camden Renault Northampton.

Todate faults have been:
Steering heavy. Fixed
Fumes in cabin. Fixed
Sunroof rattles. still rattles
Water leak in the boot. not a clue, not prepared to pay for diagnostic on the off chance RUK MAY offer a good will payment!!
Check ignition/injection message. In for repair 29/01/2007
Tempremental keyless door locking, key fob.

Hate driving the car with the constant worry of the Turbo problem.

Have a 1.5DCI 2006, approx: 40,000 miles on clock. I've had the car for sick months and average 66MPG. No problems with the engine yet as I service it myself. Use SHELL ultra oil, 5W/40. Also have fitted a magnet belt around filter to capture any metal pieces in oil.

I had a LAGUNA 2000 plate not long back and the engine seized on that at 120,000k so understand Renault engines aren't the best.

I'm covering around 24k a year.

1.5dci 106HP, no problems whatsoever. Can hear noise of turbo at 1500rpm, but that's what should happen with the variable turbo around those rpm's. I had 35.000Km so far. I put ELF 5w50 and original Renault filter.

well i have just read this,i bought my 15dci last october with 50000 on the clock and previously owned by a vicar, coming home on evening the check injection light came on, got it check out head of,well what apparently had happened was the tip of one of the injected blew and snapped off, into the engine, totally smashed, couldnt find a new one so ended up buying a 2nd hand lump.for a grand, then found out its a 106bhp out of a 40000 06 15dci, but rather p***ed off. this was done by a local supposed specialist in bristol, i asked to see parts, etc never seen them trading standards were a waste of time and the bloke/garage i bought the car off basically didnt want to know. next time i will but from a main dealers like my girlfriend did and they are pretty good i must admit.
still the joys of ownership, but a gran after buting the bloody thing nearly made me sell it,but brain saw sense, spend the money get it right and car now up to 74000,and touch wood no more probs

Iv only just noticed this thread,

but my car is a 1.9dci, the turbo went at 60k following services every 18k and oil changed every 9k or so.

14month later, 80k, turbo went again, decided to have the work carried out by a local mechanic & friend rather than renault and he seems to think that the reason the turbo has gone again so quickly is because the tits at renault didnt clean the oil feed for the turbo out the last time, he said it was just totally blocked with a sooty oil deposit, but not a chance in hell that id be able to claim anything back from renault because of there shoddy work. cost less than half of what renault charged to fix it this time. im totally thru with reanult dealers there all absolute w@nkers and robbing b@st@rds.
