Problem solved

Postby markren2004 » Tue Nov 02, 2010 2:09 pm

well after 3.5 years of ownership enough was enough..the car has gone and good riddance. i will now be moving to the VW forums and hopefully not as active a member as ive been on here :)
even though i'm OK with a spanner the cost of repairs have been well over £1000, and this does not include the expected wear and tear and servicing costs, with the MOT, tyres, brake pads, brake discs, oil / filters, wipers, bulbs etc. etc. probably heading towards £2000.

2004 1.6vvt 5door (36k, now 70k miles)
just when you think it's all sorted and nothing else can go wrong guess what ..... it does.
heres my list...
keycard Failure
4 Pencil coils failures
cam sensor failure
Back and middle exhaust dropped...internal joint failed
Dephaser (and full cambelt kit)
CV Joint
Top Strut mount clunk
Snapped front suspension spring
Battery - compete electrics dead
water in door pockets
(i sure theres others which ive forgotten about)

latest & existing Issues..
Gearbox noisy - on it's way out
Rear wheel bearing
occassional cold start stalling
occassional alarm going off (freezing temperature)

so good look with your megane's, hope yours are more reliable than the wifes was.
just bad luck or bad build quailty ?
this is my last post..
all the best.

Thanks for all your posts Mark, but remember, you are entering in a all new level of costs per item with your VW, believe me, i know what im talking about. :-)
