Megane Clock (time) problem!

Postby wo22a » Thu Oct 07, 2010 11:43 am

Odd one this, cant figure out what is wrong with it.

Basically my clock on the orange LCD screen on the dashboard seems to be going too fast, i.e the minutes are less than a minute.

Every morning i come to leave for work, and when i leave for work at night, i check my clock, (i also have an aftermarket radio with another clock on it) with my radio clock and it is always about 20 minutes faster. This depends on the amount of time my car is left!

Anybody got any ideas on here at all because im baffled!

Ta!

If it's consistently 20 minutes fast, then isn't it just wrong by 20 minutes?!?

So the after-market player always shows the correct time, but you have to constantly change the time on the OEM unit?

If so, perhaps you have a 'sticky' button that sets the clock. It could be triggering a minute increment every time you go over a pot hole or some such thing. This would only be correct if the time advances only when the car is in motion. Check the buttons work properly...

Best advice for Megane owners: sell it before it bankrupts you!

i would assume the chip that keeps the time in the radio is faulty. Try a radio from another car to confirm.

Mine done this, I disconnected the battery for 20mins and reconnected it. Cured the problem, however a few weeks later the same problem occured only that time it was running slower! Ended up selling the car that way!

should do? i have aftermarket and it's fine. can't see why it being disconnected completely wouldn't show the clock.
plus the controls to change it are immediately below so i think it's "self contained"?

As above self contained unit.

The clock keeps time with only a 12V feed.

I have a spare unit here if your interesed. Can arrange for it to be orange or white.
