Windows and window ECU

Hi all,

Can anyone explain how the ECU on a window motor works? Its a rear window on a CC.

Story is the window stopped working but as i was planning to fit the leather interior i left it until today. The ECU sits upright on the side of the motor, clipped in but has a pin and some connections that push into the motor, main wiring connection plugs in the bottm. Lots of corrosion, damp etc so removed the ECU and is now drying out.

But, what does the pin do? Should it go in and out do you reckon?
