hi there,
did you went to a renault dealer? i advise you to go to a non renault dealer and lift up your car. Under the car with a strong bar try to twist the engine and see from where is the noise coming from.
Typically the Renault technicians have formation dealing with standard problems, they usually doesnt go "off-shore", thats why im telling you to go somewhere else where they have a open mind to try different diagnostic techniques...the technique of changing everything and the client pays but the problem is still there shouldn't be used, but the dealers use it, its because it pays of as you unfortunately see.
Im sorry to any renault tech that reads this but its my experience, no one told me. Maybe its not your fault, youre just in some way obligated to work that way...
good luck

did they tried to twist the engine with a strong bar? doing that and paying attention to the engine movements you can find almost every problems related with engine vibrations..
cheers

@tomalamix - you sound like you've had this problem before? Do you remember what the cause was? Am getting slightly concerned that the engine is going to drop out or something equally ridiculous.
has anyone else had this problem and know of the remedy? Is it as simple as an engine mount? How many engine mounts are there?

jammie,
i had some problems and using this kind of technics i was able to find out that an engine mount was wrecked. Besides that while driving the car i had some noises also, it was the suspension supports on the upper side. I had to change them both. My noises stopped when i changed that...
cheers
