The Mégane II Owners' Club

The card reader on my megane 04plate is playing up, i have changed the batterys in both key fob but still have the same problem, basically it fails to find the key when i place it the reader, after alot of in/out it eventually regonises the card and starts.

I have located a 04 plate which is being broken into parts and still has the card reader, my question is can you just swap it straight or is there a coding issue?

I had the same trouble last year on my 52 plate megane. Its not the card reader thats at fault its the card itself. You will have to go to a Renault dealer and get them to order a new card for you. Then they will have to programme it to work on your car. It cost me about £80! I do have a spare but didnt want to risk that going as well otherwise I would really have been in the you know what.
