was in tesco car park and drove forward and notcied a weird noise coming from my engine so i reveresed and notcied massive black marks on the floor where id just been and that there was a massive cloud of smoke in the air. so stopped my car had a look under the hood seemed ok. started it up touched the accelerator and my engine decided to rev full pelt for 20 seconds past 6,000 revs before eventually relising id pressed stop and took the key out. looked back under the hood and there was oil all over the bottom half of my engine bay.
anyone got any idea what is im looking at getting repraced? its a 1.5 diesel.

Major repair, I'm afraid: turbo failure most probably.

along with engine failure due to the turbo failure most likely too
It was revving out of control, most likely due to the oil seals failing on the turbo, allowing oil into the combustion chamber via the intake - therefore causing the engine to rev uncontrollably until it runs out of oil and seizes, or the engine is stalled mechanically (ie. put it in a high gear, foot on brakes and let clutch up fast)

Agreed with other comments. Turbo must have failed.
