Toxic Fume Filter/Service Lights

I have had some problems recently with the battery. It was replaced today and all was well but this evening the service light and the toxic fume filter light are staying lit on the dashboard.
The car is running fine and all appears to be well otherwise.
I'm hoping that these warning lights are on as a result of the battery being disconnected for a while and will rectify themselves. Is this the case?
PS It is possible that my next sevice is due.

the light being on is indicating a fault, you should be able to check via the computer display when the next service is due (button on end of the wiper stalk).
what is the engine, petrol or diesel ?
if your in the RAC / AA they will read the ECU fault code and tell you what is wrong, otherwise it's best guess based on the symptoms. As you say it's still running ok so my best guess If it's a petrol engine would be the CAM sensor, but you really need to get the ECU codes read.

The service is imminent if not a little overdue. With about 1000 miles to go the read-out stopped and it just says "change oil soon" now.
It is petrol engined (1.6 16v 2004 Megane).

get the service done, see the FAQ section on how to reset the "service due in 18,000 miles" message, basically press the computer stalk to get the service message then press and hold the trip reset button on the speedo surround.
see if the servcie / engine mgmt light goes out or not, still think your prob is CAM sensor.

I'll get the service booked in and report back.

Good shout about the cam sensor. That was the problem.
Test/Diagnosis/Repair/Service etc = £330.
Ouch!
