Beeping when locking/unlocking

Mine never used to beep but has just started to beep on lock and unlock. I have just had to fit a new rotating control ring on the column as it broke and threw up the airbag light. During the process a mechanic dropped the neg lead off the battery and it appears that this may be the cause. I originally thought it was to let you know that the internal sensors were switched off

realise this is a old thread but hey. Mine never use to beep but disconnected the battery yesterday and now every time i unlock it it beeps once and beeps twice when locked.
1.9 dci dynamique, originally 130bhp. Remapped, DPF removed, Pipercross panel filter.viewtopic.php?f=13&t=17209

My R26 does it as standard.
