hey guys. Got a 54 plate megane 1.9 dCi. Was driving around town 2day and everytime i used the clutch, the pedal was making a clicking sound, then suddenly it stuck 2 the floor for about a second or two then came back up and now the pedal doesnt come up as high as it used 2 and also the clutch is now slipping slightly. It was absolutely fine before this happend. The car has done 73000 miles. Any ideas?

Cheers...

1. Clutch pedal mounting defect (never heard of that before)
2. Air in hydraulic clutch pipes / leaking pipework (possible)
3. Fluid level low (check it - might have lead to/caused by 2)
4. Master or slave cylinder failure (been reported before)
5. Clutch friction plate worn out (possible if it's the original)

The clutch is self adjusting in travel. Personally I haven't heard of them failing suddenly, but if it will not adjust further because its worn, then that might be the problem. 100k is typical, but stop start driving might shorten the life.

I await correction.

ive taken it to a couple of garages and all of them say they will have to strip the car down to find the problem. Most of them are saying its the clutch and Dual Mass Flywheel :-( Ive had clutches go on me before, and this does not feel like a worn clutch
