hi am looking to buy a 1.6 vvt 3dr sport
can anyone tell me when the cam belt should be changed
going to look at the car on thursday night, is there anything I should look out for on this model when buying

Hi, the cambelt needs to be changed every 72,000 miles or five years. And the water pump should be changed at the same time.

Check the passenger side door bin for water, it's very common for them to fill up in heavy rain.

Also make sure both electric windows work without any creaking, failures are very, very common.

Plus, if the model isn't fitted with the digital automatic climate control, the fan can fail, so check the heater works.

Alex - run your finger along the brake discs to see if they are lipped. If you can feel an edge (around 50 k miles) you may need new ones - with pads these are x2 £ 300 at main dealers or 2/3 that at independents
